A unique blend of intuitive movement and conscious expression. It’s a practice where you’re guided to feel your body and express emotions freely. It starts with brief guidance and meditation, followed by a dance session lasting about 1 hour. It finishes with a quick sharing circle.

Blisful
Sunsets:
Join me for “Blissful Sunsets” sessions on Wednesdays & Saturdays, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Experience an hour of free-flowing movement just before sunset, connecting with the energy flowing that day in your body enhancing your well-being and capturing the beauty of Naxos Island.
Sensual
Mornings:
Indulge in gentle shorter “Sensual Mornings” sessions on Mondays and Thursdays. 8 am – 9am.
Start your day with slow, yin-inspired movements tailored to women, awakening your senses and setting intentions for a peaceful and pleasure filled day ahead. Perfect start to your day.
Full Moon Ceremonies:
Come to an immersive 3h long ecstatic dance session with a special ritual performed before we start the practice.
This longer session will enable you to dive deeper into feeling the essence of who you are. Bring food and drink to share if you want to stay for an after party.
Private retreats:
Tailor the session to your specific needs.

Dr. Kamila Hortynska
Hello my name is Dr Kamila Hortynska, and I’m a certified Ecstatic Dance facilitator. I will be your guide for the session. I bring 23 years of experience as a mindfulness teacher, holistic psychologist, life coach and spiritual mentor.

About Ecstatic Dance
Intuitive Movement and Expression
Ecstatic Dance Naxos offers a unique blend of intuitive movement and conscious expression. During the session you're guided to feel your body and emotions and express them freely in your movements.
Move Freely, Feel Ecstatic
This practice is called ecstatic dancing because when your leave your mind and enter the body you will start moving in a way that can feel truly ecstatic. You will be moving without thinking, you may feel as if your body is moving on it’s own and you are just witnessing it and experiencing this movement.
Guided Meditation and Dance
The sessions starts with brief explanation and a short guided meditation, followed by a dance session lasting about 1 hour. During the morning session the dance practice is a bit shorter and calmer and during the Full Moon ceremonies we dance for approximately 2h.
No previous experience is necessary!
Conscious dance is a beautiful practice. You are not meant to “know how to do it”, especially if you have never tried it before. Not feeling comfortable dancing or even being self-conscious about dancing is pretty standard and not a reason not to try it! Some people begin the practice with an eye-shade to make themselves feel more comfortable.
I promise you anybody can do it. And it gets easier and more and more enjoyable the more regularly you practice. It is not about looking cool, and it is not even about dancing!
It is a form of meditation in motion. And after all, how do you learn to move if not by moving?
It is about feeling the energy moving inside you and connecting with yourself. It is about witnessing your thought and emotions. It is about coming back to yourself, to your senses to feeling life and being curious about whatever you are feeling that particular day.
You don’t have to feel happy and joyful to join. Dance is a powerful alchemical practice which helps to transmute the energies within you.
All of you is welcome
Dance with everything that is present in you that day:
Stiff and tense places in your body
Hope and fear
Love and hate
Good memories and sad moments
Pain and pleasure
And everything in between!

At worst: it will be a good exercise and you will sweat your stress out, feel more relaxed in your body
and perhaps make some new friends
At best: you will learn creative ways of moving, discover a deeper layer to your being, learn to
navigate and manage all emotional states, and if you are lucky, you may even experience an altered state of consciousness!
About Myself
I always loved dancing, but only in my 40s discovered how freeing and therapeutic is can be for me. In my 20s I have tried different regular dance classes like Salsa, Bachata, Merengue and Tango. But it wasn’t until I discovered free forms of dance that I felt truly at home. Over the last 5 years I experimented with different form of movement practices: Biodanza, 5 Rhythms, Movement Medicine, Contact Improvisations and of course Ecstatic Dance.
After moving to Naxos I really missed dancing regularly with others in this free way and being part of a community, so I trained as a facilitator and now I’m building my own conscious community here. The way I facilitate is an amalgam of all these practices blended with 18 years of experience as a Mindfulness Teacher and 23 years as a clinical psychologist and therapist.

Guidelines for conscious dancing
- Guidelines for Conscious Dancing
Arrive 10-15 minutes early to settle in and prepare for the session. This allows time for a brief orientation and to connect with fellow dancers. We will start promptly to honour the collective energy of the group.
Wear clothing that allows you to move freely and comfortably. Whether it's a beachwear, casual
clothes, special outfit or some sports wear, it is absolutely up to you. Remember all of you is
welcome. Choose something that helps you feel relaxed and ready to move.
Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the session. Depending on your level of movement,
you may want to take breaks and rehydrate as needed.
Feel free to bring a beach towel or pareo if you prefer not to sit directly on the sand during the
sessions.
The idea is that during the practice we stay fully conscious. We connect with our true nature rather than try to numb it, or escape from it, with substances. What you do outside of practice time is totally up to you. I personally offer psychedelic preparation & integration sessions as a clinical psychologist
so I have no judgement about it.
During the dance we don’t really talk, we communicate through our movements. If you want you may even try out how your body feels when copying someone else’s movements.
You are free to
dance with your eyes closed or open. Most people start with eyes closed. If you wish I even have some eye-shades if you prefer.
You may want to dance on you own or invite others to dance with you for a bit.
During the dance session, maintain respect for yourself, others, and the space around you. If you want to dance with someone please make the eye contact first. And if prefer to dance on your own simply keep your eyes closed, or use a Namaste sign to thank the other dancer for their invitation and to indicate that you want to dance on your own at that particular moment.
Focus on staying present with your body and breath. Bring attitude of curiosity to anything that arises within (thoughts, emotions, impulses, memories). Remember all of you is welcome! Allow your movements to flow naturally, tuning into sensations and emotions without any
judgement. This is a journey of self-exploration and expression. Dance with everything you feel.
Don’t let the music restrict you in any way. What you feel is more important, so feel free to move slowly even if the music is vigorous and vice versa. It is your inner practice, it is not about conforming or performing. If you feel like it, you may even sit though the whole session and meditate in traditional way!
But most of all - BE PLAYFUL - Ecstatic Dance is a super fun thing to do !

“I really like dancing and I dance a lot, but I usually dance at parties where there is alcohol and chatting too, so I was a bit unsure to start with, because I never had to be silent and just pay attention to my body when dancing. My mind is usually busy, but in this practice my mind stopped, and I felt so present. So calm inside. It was such a welcome surprise. I really liked the dance and connecting with others in this way. I also liked the meditation we did at the beginning - I never tried meditation before. But my real favourite was the sharing at the end. I felt, I somehow knew these people, even tho we haven’t spoken a word until the end. After the practice we all went for a meal. It was great to make new friends and it was fun thing to do!
